Totally Weird Cocktails- The Devil's Gate

Updated: Nov 28, 2021

Looking for the ultimate summer cocktail with the perfect taste of Totally Weird LA? The Devil’s Gate a spicy and fruity gin cocktail was originated by The Flintridge Proper in La Canada and named after the Devil’s Gate Gorge in the adjacent Arroyo Seco. Named for a spooky rock formation resembling the devil’s face, that area of the Arroyo has always been known for classically weird LA activity. Occultists like Alestair Crowly reportedly believed that the Devil’s Gate was one of the Seven Portals to Hell, and early engineers like Jack Parsons tested rocket fuel in the dry riverbed. You can still walk the Devil’s Gate via the Devil’s Gate Dam or Oak Grove Dr.
